Fall break camping trip-part 1

first morning at camp

My boys, nothing better!

fork in the road, take the road less traveled....to Terry Flat

It's been a long time since I have seen the fall colors in the mountains!
 Just gorgeous!!!
my love....

starting our hike to the tail cam

cheese! It's snack time after a little hiking.

We made it to the trail cam, just a short time hike with the kiddos!

Is there anything better than fall in the mountains (less the burnt trees)?
do you see it?

LOVE

Have I mentioned that I love the change of the season?
The boys are on fall break and that means one last camping trip of the season!  This year we went with Grandma-nama and Grandpa Bill!  Can you believe the color changes, even in the burnt area from the forest fire.  I may give my hubby grief, but this trips create such special memories and our boys love it and will always have these memories to cherish!

Mason turns 5!!!

The boys have taken an interest in my camera!  It seems nothing of Mommy's is sacred (hahaha).

Mason requested mini strawberry cupcakes with strawberry frosting.  We both loves these!

Time for presents!!!!

Mason got his Leatherman just like Brandon did when he turned five!

Yay, I am five.

my little ninja turtle!
I can't believe my little guy is already five years old!  Where the heck has the time gone?  Let's see, what are some of my favorite Masonisms....

"I love you to the moon and back"
He insists on waving goodbye to us and eery visit that stops by
He has a "good-bye" routine: kiss, hug, high five, fist bump

favorite food: slurpy noodles, strawberries, blackberries, goldfish crackers, cottage cheese, and Eegee's, chocolate chip morsels
favorite show: PAW patrol, Miles from Tomorrow land, Ninja Turtles
favorite color: "red, orange, green, blue, I'd pick red the most."
favorite book: The Llama Llama series (but he loves to be read to, so just about any book will do!)
Favorite toy: his new bow, Ninja Turtles
Friends: Luke Thome, Austin Steward, and he still often talks about Declan although it has been a year since we have seen him
current extracurricular activities: Goldfish level at Demont Swim school, Jamboree soccer at AYSO

Mason had his 5 yr well check with Dr Gloudeman's.  He is right on track and is still trending in his growth curve, go figure!  He passed his vision and hearing test and was given a flu shot (since they were out of the flu mist!).  He already had his kinder shots last year!
ht: 47 inches (97%ile)
wt: 56.5lbs (97%ile)

Mason loves to be active, he always seems to be in motion right up to the moment he finally falls asleep!  He seems to not need near as much sleep as Brandon or us for that matter.  He loves to be outside and can be found hunting for lizards or creating weapons out of sticks.  I am pretty sure he will be a great hunter just like Daddy when he gets older but for now he is still Momma's little shadow.  He loves to snuggle, to read books, and he to ride his bike. He likes to help bake goodies but isn't as fond of the cooking shows as Brandon and I.
Mason is doing well in preschool with Mrs. Pegnam.  He is working on writing his first and last name and learning to write the letters of the alphabet.  He seems to like school but doesn't seem as interested as Brandon did at this age.

Pumpkins, friends, and fun!

 Marana Pumpkin Patch
3rd annual pumpkin pickin' with the Steward Family

Lucky for Mike, he was the only adult "allowed " to jump on the jumping pillows!  Austin and Mason had fun while the rest of us watched!  Stef is prego with #3, Kevin is recovering from a head injury, and I don't take chances after my back surgery.

Kings (and princess Charlotte) of straw mountain

photo moment with the boys on the John Deere tractor, do you love the port-a-potty in the back ground?

A little friendly competition at the duck races!
We missed the picking of the cotton at the Bratton farm this year but the boys enjoyed exploring the cotton picker at the patch.

We are keeping with tradition and met up with the Steward family for our annual (3rd) pumpkin picking and festivities at the Marana Pumpkin Patch!  This year the patch added a few more activities and we did them all!  We rode the tractor out to pick pumpkins, jumped on the "pillow", watched the pig races, rode the train, climbed the straw mountain, raced rubber ducks, shot mini pumpkins out of cannons, raced bikes, and "did" the petting zoo.
The kids had a blast!  Brandon picked out a white pumpkin, Mason and Daddy got tradition carving pumpkins, and Momma got a warty one!  Looking forward to next year at the patch.  Also, a special thank you to Andrea for the admission and tickets for the activities!  You rock!!!

Mason's Spiderman party

Brandon helped set up by labeling where things should go (including a written checklist) and even made name tags for all our guests.

someone is excited for his birthday

These boys!   Has anyone else noticed that Mason always poses with his arm around his big brother???  Too cute.

Spiderman was this year's theme, complete with a Spiderman bouncy house!

Thank you to all our family and friends for celebrating Mason's fifth birthday with us!  He had a great time and so did we.
