Lil Cowboys @ Rodeo time

Brandon playing with the Snap Circuits....

Mason looking adoringly at Grandpa...thanks for the treats!

The boys participated in the the Rodeo Program at St Mark's ECC this year.  I wasn't able to go however Kevin represented us.  The boys sang songs and ate a BBQ lunch with Daddy.  I couldn't resist a trip to the Boot Barn to pick up a few new western shirts for the boys...aren't they handsome, My little cowboys!

Brandon's growing like a weed....5 year well check!

Brandon is pretty much off the growth charts, coming in GREATER than the 97 percentile for both height and weight!  Still trending in his growth curve from birth....

ht: 47 in
wt: 57 lbs
BMI:18

Now, I have to say that I was a little concerned that I have such a big five year old however Dr G.  said she has no concerns over his weight, especially given his height but....just to make this momma feel better she is going to measure his bone age (by taking an x-ray of his wrist)!  She wasn't surprised that he is almost a whole "head" taller than his preschool classmates.
Brandon is right on track developmentally, with good hearing and passed his eye exam today!  He was a little unsure of the resident pediatrician (finishing a rotation with our peds office) but opened right up when Dr G finally came in!  He couldn't wait to tell her about his Snap Circuits and that he likes to build things with his Legos. He even told the resident ped that he was going to be an electrical engineer when he gets bigger......we'll see!

More science experiments

Brandon begged to do science experiments this afternoon, so how could I resist!  Today we made an "underwater volcano" and continued to experiment with citric acid and basking soda to make a fizzing volcano on a plate change colors.  We ran out of time to start making crystals, maybe our next day off!!!

Mason/Brandon memories

Mason is getting to be such a big boy!  He is wearing size 12 shoes, size 4T/4 clothes (although he has almost outgrown his pants).  He refuses to wear comfy clothes (sweatpants) and usually insists on getting into his "day clothes" pretty early in the day.  He is still taking naps most days of the week and has started waking ~2am to use the potty, which usually means he comes to get me to help him get his night diaper off/on!  I have been avoiding a night pull up because I don't think they are as absorbent and I hate washing sheets more than waking in the middle of the night!
His favorite toys are still his tractors, trucks, driving the Raptor, ans wearing his Spiderman costume.  He drives the raptor like a pro, avoiding obstacles and usually with Brandon riding passenger.  His favorite foods right now are "slurpy" noodles, strawberries, cottage cheese, and of course salami with mustard!

Masonisms:

"I'm a rotten chicken!", he yells when he is the first one to the car after being picked up from St Marks.  Which prompts Brandon to correct him and then they argue the entire car ride home about who is right.
"Last night ago", meaning something that has happened over the past couple days.
"Two up-downs", when referring to the "M" in his name

Brandon is still quite inquisitive and the questions never seem to stop!  Sometimes, when I don't have the answer, we actually look it up on the internet just to appease him or wait until Daddy is available to provide a better explanation (as he often questions if my answer could be right!).  Be careful what you tell him, he has an amazing memory.  Brandon is wearing size 2 and a half size shoe, and boys size 7/8 clothes.
His favorite toys are his "Snap Circuits" and building Legos.  He LOVES anything electrical and will often engage Grandpa Bill in hours of building circuits to turn on lights, fans, sirens, etc. His favorite foods are cheese crisps, pizza, salami, all fruits, and soup from Las Margaritas!  He loves his preschool class with Mrs Pegnam and usually gets to spend the afternoons doing arts 'n' crafts with Ms. Terri while the other kids take a nap (which he refuses to do!).  He is still my awesome sleeper and usually wakes up dry in the morning!

 Brandonisms:

"Mommy Mason.....", fill in the blank with whatever Brandon thinks Mason did wrong or what he is getting into!
He is notorious for asking a question and then telling you your answer is wrong.....
He still loves "light blue", his favorite wubby
